Lifeport Semicon26 Innovation Square

This exhibition brought together cutting-edge innovations in the local semicon industry and research institutions alongside unique artefacts from more than seventy years of semiconductor history in Nijmegen, provided by the LINK foundation, and artworks by students of ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem.

Lifeport Semicon26 marks a moment in time within a continuous generational process of innovation in the Nijmegen region, beginning with the opening of Europe’s first semiconductor facility in Nijmegen in 1953. More than seventy years later, Nijmegen remains the only region in the world where semiconductor research, development, and production of this transformative technology have been continuously present.

This exhibition illustrates how innovation thrives through the interaction of industry, government, education, culture, and society. Together forming a resilient and deeply interconnected ecosystem. Innovation Square demonstrates how past and present explorations actively shape the future of this strategically vital technology.
